Jason is an artist from the Margaret River region, who explores the dynamic relationships between man, nature and the things that influence them, using organic geometry and symbolic representation. He sees his art as a symbol in itself; that represents, stands for, or suggests an idea, visual image, belief, action, or material entity. Through his personal interest in traditional religious art, Jungian psychology and western esoteric philosophy, he is captivated by the ability of symbols to communicate complexity often with the simplest representation.
" The natural world grounds me, having grown up in the country and having spent and continue to spend a great deal of time in the southwest forests, oceans and rivers. I am always trying to represent the beauty in the local, as being seen every day sometimes becomes mundane and underappreciated. I am deeply influenced by folk and outsider art, and believe it to be the purest visual representation of a society’s/community’s relationship with the world around it. "
