jude willis
Jude Willis is a West Australian artist who works from studios in Fremantle and the Ferguson Valley. More recently, she has discovered the beautiful Great Southern and is now regularly visiting and painting the landscape around Albany and Denmark.
Having worked in the field of medical research, she decided to abandon her PhD studies and follow her life- long dream of studying art, completing an Advanced Diploma of Art and Design in 2013.
Her artwork references the everchanging relationship between observation and invention, memory, and beauty and patterns in nature.
In her more detailed drawings and reflections she is investigating habitat and the preciousness of the natural world, while her more abstracted landscapes which include tangles of lines, strokes and marks (some spontaneous, some careful and following observation) reflect her response to the history and soul of a place as well as an awareness of movement and light.
