We are also showcasing the much anticipated new collection of acrylics and oils by the gifted Albany artist, Cynthia Orr.

"The diversity of this 2021 collection resonates with who I am as a person and how I see the incredible place which I call home.
I like to challenge myself and my skill with many varied compositions and genres, as it keeps me growing as an artist and enhances my connectedness to life and people.
The collection contains oil and acrylic paintings, using a play of abstract and representational images from the rugged southern ocean, to the turquoise playfulness of greens pool, our unique WA flora, and much more."  CYNTHIA ORR

BLOSSOM
‘for everything there is a season’

We will be showcasing the much anticipated new collection of acrylics and oils by the gifted Albany artist, Cynthia Orr. Cynthia's works are bold and expressive, and are a true celebration of our unique Australian flora.

With an expression of her heart blended with an impressive use of colour and form, Corr Art’s nature inspired and emotional prolific artworks, have transformed thousands of walls across the globe. Using a fresh and unusual approach, her paintings emit something unique and powerfully spiritual, exciting the senses and moving the heart, beckoning you with a persistent excitement and desire to usher in beauty and renewal.

"The BLOSSOM collection is an expression of my heart on canvas to portrait life blooming out of the unexpected situations of the human and world experiences; to remind us that ‘for everything there is a season’, in life, nature and relationships. Through my recent journey, the fires that have ripped through parts of our country and the epidemic of 2020, this series represents resilience and restoration and the hope that loss can give way to life."
–Cynthia Orr, the Artist.

SHAUN WAKE-MAZEY
new works
DEC 11-30
We are excited to showcase a collection of new works by the talented and respected well known Australian artist, Shaun Wake-Mazey. After having spent years abroad and in the Eastern States, Shaun has returned to his roots in Albany.

Working predominately on a large scale, with oils on plywood, Shaun has created some beautifully expressive and dynamic works. For this collection, he has focused on landscapes - some abstract, and semi abstract.

The late John Stringer wrote of Wake-Mazey in a book called Artist in Residence that
"Wake-Mazey's work is invariably dramatic, not merely as a result of scale but especially because of its passionate use of violent colour and harsh tonal contrasts. His works have a haunting quality due both to the nocturnal mood of their rich dark sonorous colours."

All works can be viewed/purchased from 10am Friday 11 December.

This new collection features the nude, not only as a subject of art, but as a form of art.
Six talented artists search to capture the most iconic universal form.
"The Greeks perfected the nude in order that man might feel like a god, and in a sense this is still its function, for although we no longer suppose that God is like a beautiful man, we still feel close to divinity in those flashes of self-identification when, through our bodies, we seem to be aware of a universal order." Kenneth Clark THE NUDE

All works can be viewed/purchased from Tuesday 3rd November at Blush Retail Gallery.

We are excited to present our new TWENTYTWENTY collection of artworks.
Award winning artists Racquel Cavallaro and John Manson combine to bring us a very contemporary collection to see us into the new decade, with an exciting fresh look at familiar scenes.
Racquel's beautiful framed oils and wax artworks "... are images seen in passing, a dialogue between light, form and colour that looks to reveal the inherent rhythmic structure of the universal in the familiar."
John focuses on everyday objects and scenes around his Albany hometown, and presents them anew in a semi abstract form "... so they become appealing and in this sense, the design becomes everything."

NEAR AND FAR
nov 20 - jan 11
Ty Stedman 'melon and mint' Gold winner Fine Art Category Prix de la Photographie Paris 2019
Award winning fine art photographer Ty Stedman, gives us the FAR perspective with his aerial photography views from aloft.
"The collection that I have created for the ‘NEAR & FAR’ exhibition is a representative array of the images I am driven to capture. It is indicative of the vast beauty that is waiting to be discovered in all corners of our magnificent state. The abstract shapes and patterns are as varied as the colours, intricate details and textures that give the images form.
All images have been shot throughout the Western Australian state, encompassing the Great Southern, Goldfields, Gascoyne, Midwest and Kimberley regions, with the inclusion of a couple of images from South Australia."
We presented our NEAR AND FAR collection, which brought together two opposite perspectives of our beautiful Australian landscapes.

Talented West Australian artist Anastasija Komarnyckyj is inspired by the diverse bird life and flora found in the waterways near her Bunbury home. She brings a beautifully rendered up close NEAR perspective, with her stunning oil painting on canvas artworks.
"Residing within the vicinity of the Leschenault Inlet in Bunbury WA has endeared me to this environment. Fringed by white, ancient mangrove trees this waterway provides a habitat for a diverse range of birdlife and flora. Over time, a daily walk around the Inlet has generated a plethora of inspiration for my arts practice. This landscape, imbued with peace and silence, speaks of a sacred place. "

PASSIONART ran very successfully over the September/October 2019 Art Trail period.
Five well known local artists brought together a diverse range of styles and subject matter together, to create this rich and unique collection of artworks.

"We continue to build upon our traditional oil painting and drawing techniques, developed during our studies whilst living in Florence. We are pleased to share our new seasons artworks, in genres of still life, portrait, and narrative painting" Ron Baker and Marjan Bakhtiarikish.
“I have used my still life photography of fruits and objects to create oil paintings with a very graphic content, that captures the rich and abundant feeling of the subject matter. With the artwork, I aimed to produce abstractions and naive representations of what I was seeing." Angie Fryer-Smith

press releases
Bronwen Newbury and Ria di Cola showcased their new artworks in our ADORN collection.
The collection celebrates both the  adornments of the human form, and the "jewellery" we find in our natural environment. Nature's fantastic and diverse adornments we sometimes take for granted in our busy lives.  The sparkle of light on water, the shrouds of fog around a peak, the crest of colour on a bird - all are given to us freely.  For an artists to capture these adornments, is a gift that we can enjoy for ever.
RIA: "In preparation for ADORN I have truly enjoyed exploring the adornment of beauty in landscape and portrait. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in and show the essence of our world. I love to incorporate flowers and jewellery in these images. While I make attempts to portray decoration, I myself slow down and breathe life in.
Living with images that pay tribute to the world of beauty in art reminds us all to appreciate all the delights of colour and texture and take it all in. There is a luscious detail in everyday life that we have forgotten to see and I am hoping my paintings help to remind us of it.
just add water

press releases
Nell Parker and Jen Mitchell are our feature artists for our JUST ADD WATER COLLECTION.
Nell’s artworks have been inspired by the changing seasons in her garden. She has created intriguing emotional interpretations of how she sees the natural beauty in her surroundings, resulting in a fabulous range of photographic works that she transfers onto linen on board.
Jen's acrylics and oil artworks explore her abstract expressionist roots, and feature both landscapes and figurative abstractions. These pieces use bold colours and contours to celebrate the female form, and muted tones to capture the beauty of the South Coast landscapes.

We were excited to have Terri Pikora and Kirsten Sivyer showcase their inspiring new artworks with us.
Terri's works are inspired by the sense of being home in Albany, and the colours and patterns of the region. She works with cold wax medium and oils, which has resulted in some beautiful textural works. Her use of layering and glazing, and a limited colour palette, make the landscapes come alive.
Kirsten has a fascination with fire, smoke and atmospheric moods, and from her previous series has made a progression toward pyrocumulus and volcanic clouds. The sheer power, threat and awe inspiring monolithic quality of these natural forms is a humbling reminder of how small and insignificant we really are. She finds comfort and a sense of freedom in the surrender, knowing that we belong to the earth, come what may.

dec 18 - feb 10

With the soft breezes of summer approaching and the promise of some rich warm scents and sights, we brought you this newly inspired collection of artworks.
Marion Nelson and Marjan Bakhtiarikish are two talented local artists whom we were lucky to be able to showcase in the gallery. Marion worked with watercolours on linocut - her artwork was filled with the lightness of the landscapes of summer. We also featured her delightful origami works. Marjan's exquisite oil floral bouquets and landscapes, reflected the different colours and patterns of the season, and the renewed sense of hope that nature brings us.

The gallery showcased new works by artists Terence Podmore, Sara Riches, Marjan Bakhtiarikish and Ron Baker.

We are the sum of our fairy tales, our myths and legends, our kings and queens, our poets and princesses.  Without knowing it their presence has seeped into our souls. So, tempered by the reality of day to day life, we are free to daydream about our other selves. This collection of artwork focused on what nourishes, inspires, frightens and frees us.
The artists worked in oils, watercolours, pencils and acrylics, to bring a delightful and beautifully crafted selection of artworks.
