RIA is a visual artist who resides in Albany. "I have always drawn. When everyone else was doing maths in school I was drawing and being told off! From very young when asked what do you want to be when you grow up it was a no brainer… an artist! The first exhibition I ever saw was by Salvador Dali in Naples when I was 13. I will never forget the reactions that people had to his art. I think it was then I realised that creating art can evoke so much emotion in a complete stranger. The very idea that I could create something that someone will gaze at for years to come amazes me still to this day."
On finishing high school Ria was accepted into the Claremont School of Art and Design, which further immersed her into the art world. Her mediums are pencil, pen, wash, and oils, however she is introducing mixed media as her art develops.
"I love stories, as everyone has a story. I want my art to be more than just decoration. Always inspired by my children - they feature heavily in my art. Living on the coast, I love the views Albany has to offer, so I am inspired to paint these gorgeous surroundings."
